My introduction to clay was at school where I gained 'A' level Ceramics. However, it was many years later that I decided to pursue my creative side and returned my hands to the familiar and therapeutic feel of clay. I attended week long throwing courses run by Seth Cardew and Richard Phethean and later went back to Richard for his Slipware Masterclass. It was the latter that provided me with a much needed springboard to develop my style further.

Now working from my garden studio in West Sussex, I produce a variety of functional pieces and always endeavour to give attention to detail as I feel it is key to achieving a well balanced finished piece. A great deal of my work is thrown and I love using red earthenware clay for the additional warmth and decoration it can offer. Being drawn to patterns, e.g. those found in buildings or in nature, I find that by techniques such as scratching through, trailing or brushing on slip they provide me with the ideal approach for expressing my designs.
