Susan Neal

Susan attended pottery classes whilst bringing up her four children and then became a mature student. After gaining her qualifications she ran a pottery for Kent County Council Social Services and taught ceramics to students with learning difficulties. She is currently a ceramics tutor at Tunbridge Wells Adult Education Centre where she runs a supported learning course.

Her current raku fired pots are inspired by natural forms and the Kentish landscape. The effects she obtains with matt copper glaze are the result of experimentation over a number of years. Her latest work is a range of 'horsehair' raku vessels glazed with coloured terrasigillata. Her work can be seen at Obsidian Fine Art Gallery in Stoke Mandeville, West End House Gallery in Smarden and her display area in the 18C barn and studio at her home.
