Martin Lake
In 2007 Martin decided to start up his hobby again and begin throwing
stoneware pottery.
His interest in pottery started at an early age at Axton Chase school,
Longfield, Kent and continued throughout the mid 70's after purchsing his
own equipment when he found a complete studio pottery for sale in Skegness.
He found an empty stable block on premises at Pinden End Farm, Longfield
and potted there for a few years until he owned a property when he set
up a studio in his garage for a few more years. The hobby was put on hold
and mothballed as other life events took priority. So after starting a
family the youngest is now at an age when it's not cool to be seen with
parents ( except when when he's driving her somewhere in the car! ) and
so he now has a little more spare time to be creative again. He works in
a small studio on the outskirts of Gravesend.
He likes throwing domestic ware and firing it using his
favourite glaze Tenmouku. When fired in his gas kiln
it produces rich dark plum colours.
