Jane Richardson

Jane is based in rural Kent and works from her garden studio, she creates exquisite individual ceramic sculptures that are frost proof for the garden as well as functional pieces. Travelling exposed her to ceramics from all over the world and these influences along with her studies in the arts and ballet have contributed to her work.

Jane became a professional potter some years after selling her first 'head' to Francis Iles Gallery in 1994 and has now exhibited in galleries across the UK, with commissions to Canada, Italy, France and Spain.

Jane often pots and sculpts at night, during this quiet time producing a range of work reflecting moods and feelings especially in her figurative work.

In 2004 Jane took on the privilege of working in local schools creating communal projects, sculpture gardens and pottery clubs, thus enabling children also to build ,experience and express them selves with clay.

A friend gave me a beautiful recipe for a deep turquoise satin blue glaze which I love. I have found an almost identical one firing at cone 6 which is given in the glaze database.
