Angela Howe

I taught ceramics, as well as art, at a school for students, aged 11-16 with severe behaviour disorders until I retired recently. I produce predominantly hand-built work with an organic theme for functional objects, baking and serving dishes. These pots are often influenced by my interest in the Art Nouveau movement with characteristic flowing curvilinear designs and floral or plant motifs.

I also produce decorative coil built butter / serving dishes with an animal theme. I work with a variety of clay bodies, and use a number of different firing methods, including raku.

Clay and slips used are commercially produced with 'additions'.

Each piece created is unique, but every year I also create highly individual one off sets, such as a chess set and Nativity figures.

Angela's favorite raku glaze, is given in the glaze database
