Angela Howe
Angela teaches ceramics at a school for pupils with severe behaviour disorders. She produces predominantly hand-built work with an organic theme for functional objects, baking and serving dishes. These pots are often influenced by her interest in the Art Nouveau movement with characteristic flowing curvilinear designs and floral or plant motifs. She also produces purely decorative coil built pieces with a 'quirky' animal theme, sometimes inspired by observations on her daily drive to school. Angela works with a variety of clay bodies, and uses a number of different firing methods, including raku.
Clay and slips used are commercially produced with 'additions'. Each piece created is unique, but every year Angela also creates highly individual one off sets, such as chess pieces and Nativity figures.
